Patient Brochure

The intermediate dried urine hormone profile is ideal for assessing problems with sex steroid hormone metabolism that can affect cancer risk, particularly breast cancer. This testing is also suitable for monitoring adrenal hormone synthesis and metabolism and diurnal melatonin production, which have implications for risk of cardiovascular disease, cancer and other chronic diseases. Consider this profile as a standard assessment for men or women considering hormone replacement therapy, concerned with cancer risk, and melatonin and cortisol function.

This urinary hormone metabolite analysis provides an average of steroid hormone levels over an entire day with a simple, convenient 4-point collection. This test is collected off four separate dried urine samples at key time points throughout the day: 1st morning, 2nd morning, early evening, and bedtime. Urine is collected on filter paper strips either by dipping it in urine collected in a cup, or by urinating directly on the strip.
