Description
Many women experience symptoms related to their menstrual cycle. Assessing progesterone and estradiol levels throughout a 28 day cycle can help ascertain whether a deficiency or excess of these hormones are present in the three phases of the menstrual cycle (follicular, ovulatory and luteal phases).
The salivary 28 day hormone test is a comprehensive assessment of (E2) estradiol, (P4) progesterone, and testosterone over a 28 day period of a female’s regular menstrual cycle. Hormone imbalances reveal the rhythm of hormones and their fluctuations which can help identify the key causes of disorders such as premenstrual syndrome (PMS), infertility, and menstrual irregularities. This hormonal test analyses 11 saliva samples of a 28-day period. Saliva samples for the most accurate test results are collected on days: 3, 5,8,11,12,14,16,18,20,23 and 28.
Hormonal balance is the key to optimal health. Research has long shown that fluctuating levels of estradiol, progesterone, and testosterone play a major role in a woman´ s overall health affecting a variety of conditions including menstrual cycles, sleep patterns, menopause, infertility PCOS, PMS, breast cancer and endometriosis.
Saliva hormone testing provides a thorough analysis of estradiol and progesterone over a full 28 day cycle and testosterone is measured on day 11. By utilising 11 saliva samples for analysis, the relationship and balance of these essential hormones are analysed more precisely through time. The levels of estradiol and progesterone, as well as the ratio between the two, are clearly graphed for easy reference and patient education. This tool serves as a useful diagnostic tool in clinical practice to help practitioners with treatment of chronic gynaecologic disorders.
