Description
The Comprehensive Metabolic Profile is an in-depth assessment that includes the following components:
Urea Electrolytes and Creatinine (UEC) is a measure of kidney function. UEC measures, Sodium (Na), Potassium (K), Bicarbonate (HCO3), Urea, eGFR, and creatinine. These analytes reflect kidney function, metabolic acidosis and provides clinical value in the diagnosis and management of acute kidney injury and chronic kidney disease.
Liver function tests (LFT) is a hepatic panel that identifies the function of the liver. The liver processes drugs and alcohol, filters toxic chemicals, stores vitamins and minerals, makes bile, proteins and enzymes. LFT tests the levels of a number of proteins and enzymes that are either produced by liver cells or released into the blood when liver cells are damaged, namely ALP, ALT, AST, GGT, Albumin, Total Protein and Bilirubin.
Lipids test identifies fat metabolism markers to monitor and screen for risk of cardiovascular disease. Cholesterol and triglycerides are lipids, or fats which are important for cellular health, but can be harmful when they build up in the blood. Lipids identifies measures of cholesterol, triglycerides, high-density lipoprotein (HDL), low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and the risk ratios.
Glucose identifies blood sugar levels, which when out of balance, may be associated with diabetes, insulin resistance or insulin sensitivity.
Urate (UA) identifies the level of uric acid in the blood. Uric acid is produced when the body breaks down foods that contain organic compounds called purines. High levels of uric acid can cause gout.
Magnesium (Mg) is a mineral and electrolyte responsible for many functions in the blood. Mg is required for muscle, nerve and cardiovascular function.
Phosphate (Phos) in the blood measures mineral phosphorus levels inactive of kidney disease or bone disorders. The kidneys remove excess phosphate from the blood. Phosphate is an electrically charged particle that contains the mineral phosphorus. Phosphorus supports to calcium in bone health.
Lactate Dehydrogenase (LDH) an enzyme protein is released into blood and body fluids when body tissue is damaged by disease or injury. LDH levels are used to monitor cancer therapy or may be raised in conditions like anaemia, liver disease, lung disease, and some types of infections.
Calcium test measures calcium in the blood essential for proper functioning of your nerves, muscles, and heart. Calcium is the primary mineral in the blood needed for healthy bones and teeth. An imbalance of Calcium may be a sign of bone, thyroid, kidney disease, or other medical conditions.
