Description
The anti-double stranded DNA test is used to help diagnose lupus in a person who has a positive result on a test for antinuclear antibody (ANA) and has clinical signs and symptoms that lupus is suspected.
Generally, as a primary assessment if a patient has a positive result on a test for antinuclear antibody (ANA) and has clinical signs and symptoms that suggest lupus. A physician will order a double stranded DNA to confirm this result or to monitor the improvement of the disease or flare-ups in a person who has already been diagnosed with lupus.
