Description

The Microbiomix Metagenomic Mapping test utilises metagenomic sequencing (shotgun), a powerful technique for analysing the genetic material of entire microbial communities present in a given stool sample. The term “shotgun” refers to the random and unbiased sequencing of all the genetic material in the sample, including DNA from bacteria, viruses, fungi, and other microorganisms. Covering 28,000+ microbial species, this comprehensive analysis provides a more detailed picture compared to targeted approaches that focus on specific genes or organisms.

Since the sequencing is unbiased, it can reveal the presence of previously unknown or unculturable microorganisms to uncover the full diversity of the microbiome. Through a simple stool sample, this panel will provide detailed information on the microbiome, as well as biochemical markers relating to digestion, inflammation, intestinal permeability and more.
