Description
The PAEDIATRIC-Biome test is a comprehensive stool analysis designed to assess the gut microbiome, digestive function and gastrointestinal health of children and adolescents aged 3–17 years. The gut microbiome plays an important role in digestion, immune regulation, nutrient metabolism, gut barrier integrity and inflammatory balance during childhood and adolescence.
This advanced panel uses shotgun metagenomic sequencing alongside functional gastrointestinal and biochemical markers to provide a detailed picture of microbial balance and gut function. Through a simple stool sample, the test evaluates microbial diversity, beneficial bacteria, pathogens, inflammatory markers, digestive capacity, intestinal permeability and short chain fatty acid production.
The PAEDIATRIC-Biome panel may be particularly useful in children and adolescents presenting with digestive complaints, food reactions, altered bowel habits, recurrent infections, microbiome disruption following antibiotics, or symptoms suggestive of gut dysbiosis and gastrointestinal inflammation. Results are interpreted using age-specific reference ranges, recognising that the microbiome continues to develop throughout childhood and adolescence.
